Political Date Rape — on the air

Rosie O’Donnell, Jane Fonda, and Gloria Steinem (Wikipedia for Rosie, Jane, Gloria) have launched a new liberal radio network under the banner of Green Stone Media. It has special significance for supporters of Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Condistas, because the new radio network’s management is definitely Contra, as in Contra-Condistas. From their website, you can discover their ideological perspective, but compared to Air America it is a “kinder gentler” liberalism, at least in its delivery, but ultimately, not in its extremism.

“After all, glaciers are melting, costs are rising, children are growing - there’s a lot to talk about! We’re about connection, community and fun, and we invite you to be part of the conversation.” Green Stone Media homepage.

Unlike Air America that had little to bank on except ideology and Al Franken’s big mouth when it started, these three liberal Musketeers have a long history of successfully marketing their liberal “party line” to middle America under the guise of “women’s issues.” They have an impressive track record of syndicated television shows, videos, magazines, books in addition to their own celebrity. Radio is just an extension of their collective experience. Of course, all of their products are infused with a large dose of liberalism. Some of it overt. Some of it subliminal. Just look at that quotation above. “Glaciers are melting.” Global warming somehow got slipped into the middle of their feel good promotion of “growing children…connection, community and fun.” By linking these issues through constant repetition of the “party line,” they can cast their political opponents in a very negative light. After all, if you question global warming, or melting glaciers, then you must be against “growing kids, connection, community and fun.”

Don’t laugh, the Democrats have successfully used this strategy since the famous political ad from the Johnson-Goldwater race of ‘64. And although we’re making progress against Democratic disinformation, they have been successful in making too many Americans believe that all Republicans are racist, sexist, homophobe warmongers who got rich in some underhanded way and go on vacation to club baby seals and pollute the environment. Whether by design, or dumb luck, liberals, and especially the celebrities that support them, have been able to use their media access to link Republicans to negative political positions in the minds of millions.

Long term they are potentially a much bigger political threat than Air America in that they are going to “sugarcoat” their political message in formats that are very popular and have the potential for success on a huge scale. (Look at the popularity of Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show, Gloria Steinem founded Ms magazine, Jane Fonda workout tapes, etc.) The question is: “Can this ’smother your enemies in honey’ approach translate into a radio format that can attract and hold an audience?” Radio is different than television in that it typically is a “peripheral activity,” something that you listen to while doing something else such as driving, cleaning the house, or working. In the recent past, successful radio formats, especially for programs with a political message have depended upon “extreme” programming that “captures” or “demands” the listener’s attention. In contrast to the feminist “in your face” approach of the past, this new network is attempting is to develop a warm relationship with its listeners. So be on the lookout for a resurgence of 70’s buzz words. (It’s hard for me not to gag when I hear the words “consciousness raising,” and I wasn’t even born when this drivel was part of everyday speech. I can’t imagine how difficult it will be for those who lived through this era to keep the lunches down while driving in case their car radios happen to stray onto one of these stations.) Then, once they’ve gained the audience’s trust, they’ll slip a liberal “Mickey Finn” into their drink. It’s an insidious strategy. What they’re attempting is “political date rape.” (Of course, you’ll never see Nancy Pelosi threatening Greenstone Media’s FCC licenses over political bias like she did to ABC about ” The Path to 9-11.”)

Rosie’s recent anti-Christian outburst on The View, Jane’s Hanoi history and continued liberal sympathies, and Gloria’s constant vocal advocacy for the Left demonstrate how “out of touch” these women are with the American mainstream. More significant to us, as Condistas, is that there is now going to be an entire radio network that is run by the overtly Contra-Condista Gloria Steinem. This should prompt us to be even more outspoken as 2008 approaches. They are going to have a much better platform from which to broadcast their propaganda. Steinem makes no mystery of her feelings about Dr. Rice during her interview by Deborah Solomon in the New York Times Magazine. (Read the rest of it if you want your “consciousness raised.”)

Solomon: “Is Condoleezza Rice an ally of women? ”

Steinem: “I wish someone would write an article called “How Did Condoleezza Rice Get That Way?” She’s so separate from the welfare of the majority of Americans and especially the female and African-American communities to which she belongs.”

Blog Editor’s note: “Barbara Yi” a.k.a. “The Intern” is a pseudonym for a South Florida mass communications student. As part of her education she must complete a number of internship type assignments in some organizations that are decidedly not Republican friendly, hence the request for privacy, at least until graduation next year. However, this has given her insights into the liberal media that are quite useful. She has traveled extensively as an “Army brat” due to her father’s career, speaks English and Spanish fluently, as well as “conversational” Vietnamese, German and French. She is a member of her home state’s Air National Guard and looks forward to earning her commission after graduation. In addition to her studies, she works as a translator and has done some local modeling on “South Beach.” She is thinking about entering active duty, or law school, after graduation. She is engaged (sorry) to a student at another South Florida university who will finish his graduate studies this year. Her father will retire from active duty upon his return from the Middle East in the near future. Our prayers are with “Barbara,” her father, and her family until he is home safely.

There is so much wrong with Gloria’s statements! I don’t know where to begin. It just proves that all she knows about Condi is that she’s a Republican.

Condi graduated from high school early. She has a Ph.D. from Notre Dame. She has served as a foriegn policy advisor to 2 U.S. presidents. She is not a “race traitor”, as she explains in an upcoming interview in Essence magazine.

She grew up in the segregation era in Birmingham Alabama. her father led a neighborhood watch group to protect the neighbors from random attacks by the Night Riders, a part of the Ku Klux Klan. Her parents had the pain of trying to explain to her why they weren’t allowed to go to an amusement park due to segregation.

While a freshman at the University of Denver, she stood up to a college professor who was lecturing about why whites are superior to blacks. She stood up in the middle of the lecture and said, “I speak French! I play the piano! I ice skate! I am better at your culture than you!” Condi is absolutely no stranger to racism, and has been a fighter on the front lines.

There are a lot of personal stories about Condi facing racism in the book “Condi: The Condoleezza Rice Story” by Antonia Felix. This is required reading for Condistas.

It sounds like Gloria is mad because Condi isn’t on the Democratic party’s plantation. If Condi was a Democrat, she’d be loved by all of Hollywood and be praised for her many accomplishments.

The Washington Business Journal in an article last March by Ben Hammer gave some of the finanacial details and listed some more of the key players surrounding the launch of Green Stone Media. This article shows that there’s some serious money and people with talent, and connections out there dedicated to getting the Leftist message out all wrapped up in “warm and fuzzy” packaging.

It’s enough (almost) to wish for the days of Air America and their shrill, ham-fisted moonbat, even comical, liberalism coupled with inept management that bounced checks, screwed charities, etc.

Well, gee. Perhaps we should send Rosie, Jane, and Gloria to the Vatican to scold Pope Benedict XVI for that oh-so-insensitive speech at the University of Regensburg. I’m sure that we and those Muslim leaders demanding Pope Benedict’s head could get along quite well thanks to these three women’s warm, soothing, and fuzzy message to redirect our attention away from bullet-ridden church walls, nuns gunned down in Somali hospitals, demolished twin skyscrapers, and apocalyptic machinations toward nuclear weapons and toward melting glaciers, sexual and racial discrimination, skyrocketing health care, and all that good stuff.

That fit of sarcasm aside, these women are obviously unaware of Condi’s recent discussions with the leaders of Poland and Israel as they prepare their next moves toward stopping Iran and North Korea’s nuclear collision course with us in the short term and building an international missile defense alliance to safeguard against ALL future menaces to the United States’ international democratic hegemony in the long term. No, they would rather subtly immobilize our will to defend civic and transcendent freedom and hand us over to Islamo-Leninist tyrants on a silver platter in the name of tolerance and diversity. These women make me sick.
