Is someone’s private sex life a legitimate campaign or political issue? Most us would answer “no,”

Oh really! I think a lot of people would disagree with you on that one. So if a candidate were gay, they'd be electable and, for instance, the religious right wouldn't have anything to say about their gayness?

I guess, to paraphrase, "most of us" depends on your definition of "us."

***Blog Editor: The "us" referred to in this post was a generic "us" in referring to those of us that generally support and admire Condi.

Not only that, but farther down the article in the interview with Bean, Randy "self-outed" herself as a straight woman. She took umbrage at the fact that were she gay she would have remained closeted.

The CIA has every right to erase these tapes or destroy any other evidence in the name of our Homeland Security. 9-11 created an alternate reality; most Democrats fail to recognize the implications of Geneva-like restrictions and reckless release of information which is vital to our safety and well-being. The Democrat hysteria surrounding the necessary erasing of these tapes exposes them for the opportunistic traitors they are. Thank God we have people like Condi who are still committed to the best interests of this country and its future.

Oh my god, are you serious about wanting to run this woman for president? All she appears to be at this point is Bush's little go-bot. What does this woman think? All we know about her is that she was very cozy with the oil industry before she got the job and was a provost for a bit. She just took a HUGE failure in the NEI report, which shows that her bosses were sitting on the info for something like a year - did Condi know this? Is this something else she didn't know? I honestly think you are deranged to be wanting this little chicky to run for president. Let her get a job at Exxon when she is thrown, oops I mean, when Bushco's term is over.

Here's another article by Ben Greenman on AOL's News Bloggers: Is Condi Gay -- and Who Cares?. However, I disagree with some of its assumptions:

If she is gay and is part of an administration whose policies have been hostile to gay Americans, does that make her a hypocrite?

Is the Bush administration "hostile" to homosexuals? Conventional wisdom may assume so as a "natural" extension of opposition to gay marriage. Coupled with nonstop repitition by the mainstream media, at every opportunity, of the Leftist party line "Republican equals homophobe" turns this falsehood into a widely accepted "truism."

I feel that there is No One more Qualified to lead this nation at this critical time in our history than Dr Condileeza Rice.
Her qualifications, resume and experience are unmatched cannot be challenged.

I might add that she is genuine honest and forthright person.
Condi for President in '08 is our only hope to defeat Hillary who is in it only for the power and not at all for the best interest of this country

We have all the minorities represented in this year's race. How about the common people, the people who are not millionaires in their own right? I would vote for Dr. Rice! It's not the gender card, or the color card, or even the 9-11 card. It is about a woman with a head on her shoulders, ideas that work and responsibility and character. It is not about stumping about tooting one's own horn. Please Condi, put some sense into the 2008 race and RUN.

A Nov. 15 2007 AP story indicates Chevron was fined $30M by the SEC for bribing Saddams’s thugs in the “oil for food” deal and that Chevron may face tax evasion charges later. The bribes were in the millions so someone pretty high up at Chevron had to sign off on the payments. Unfortunately the AP story did not mention Dr. Condoleezza Rice the Chevron board member and the chairman of the “Public Policy Committee” which is responsible for making sure this kind of activity does not happen.

The Chevron website says the committee’s purposes include “identifying, evaluating and monitoring social, political and environmental trends, issues and concerns”, “analyzing how public policy trends could impact business activities and performance". Dr. Rice never discussed the Iraqi bribes on the record (not in the minutes) at company meetings. That should not surprise anyone who is familiar with her lack of response to 911 warnings.

President Clinton put sanctions on Iraq. Actions by Chevron and Rice clearly violated those sanctions and amount to treason. I urge our new Attorney General Michael Mukasey and California Attorney General Jerry Brown determine who at Chevron authorized the millions in bribes.

I want Dr. Rice to know how proud we are of her and pray for her safety and peace of mind. Also I pray she gets some much needed rest and relaxation soon. I hope that if the problems in the Middle East aren't resolved that she knows we know she has done everything she can possibly think to do and say.

Sincerely and Best Regards,

Unless Condi jumps in the race Hillary is set to win in November '08. Our enemies abroad are eager to see this happens and to see all our troops back to the states. Another terrorist attack is most likely to happens within a year of a Clinton administration.
I am very disappointed to find that my comment that I posted yesterday does not appear here. I hope it is merely an oversight.

***Blog Editor: A link in the lead paragraph to your blog, where you can pontificate ad infinitum, seems more than fair -- and much more likely to be read than a mere comment to one of our posts which are designed for a core audience of Condi suporters.

You write: "The appearance of critics from within her own party and among our allies only weakens her negotiating position as she tries to do her job. "

By the same token, it was criticism from within the ranks that led to the withdrawal of Ms. Miers from consideration for the Supreme Court and the appointment of someone far more accomplished.

***Blog Editor: Condi isn't a nominee she is the Secretary of State and, for the time being, the principle negotiator for the US. Are you under ANY illusion that a Democratic Party appointee, with the Jimmy "Zionism=Apartheid" Carter seal of approval would be favorable for Israel? (That's a rhetorical question, not requiring a response. We can read your blog if we want your point of view -- which is precisely why we linked to it!) "Blind allegiance?" We have no idea where that comes from, but your acerbic tone detracts from your arguments. And we say that as friends and supporters of the State of Israel, more than a few of whom attended the Christians United for Israel conference in Washington, DC, this summer.

***Blog Editor: A link in the lead paragraph to your blog, where you can pontificate ad infinitum, seems more than fair — and much more likely to be read than a mere comment to one of our posts which are designed for a core audience of Condi suporters.

You write: “The appearance of critics from within her own party and among our allies only weakens her negotiating position as she tries to do her job. ”

By the same token, it was criticism from within the ranks that led to the withdrawal of Ms. Miers from consideration for the Supreme Court and the appointment of someone far more accomplished.

Commanding blind allegiance just does not fly anymore.
Get used to it.

*** Blog Editor's note: "Mr. Law" posts under multiple names and bogus e-mail addresses. Usually, we just delete his inconsequential drivel. However, it is a good idea to be exposed to the delusional mindset that the mainstream media has carefully cultivated so that it can be effectively countered.

I'm inlcined to wish that more Americans were comfortable with getting in the face of some of officials. After all, they represent the people rather than the corporate interests driviing the terror occupation in the Middle East.

Our Constitution provides for the right of the citizens to remove inept officials. I do not want to see anyone hurt. However, I consider the Bush Administration (Ms. Rice is a part of same) the most indulging child serial killers of the past 50 years.

The world is not safe with this administration. They are dangerous to peace through out the world while tearing apart our Constitution.

I wish her well in her next path after this one - Let me use this post to officially state that I would not let any children near her.

Sadly, the expansion of Blackwater, Triple Canopy, and Dyncorp has been an unavoidable necessity. Their success has been bought at a price: lack of oversight and casualties. State is not like DOD, and didn't have enough auditors to cover the money trail, so there were abuses. Griffin paid for them because showboats like Waxman wanted a scalp.

Rice will be able to stiffarm Waxman. She's dealt with ambulance chasers before. But there's a price for everything.

I love the idea seeing Condi as president. Or vice-president this time around.

I hate even to type this, but Southern Pubs, how would they handle a Black woman as candidate?

With her intelligence and ability with foreign policy, we need her. What clout she brings. She would be the first real female American President.

Marcia,

It's not polite to "shout" in blog comments. (e.g. Write in ALL CAPS)

Also, Israel is partitioned -- just not officially. The Israeli built wall (Note to Bush: a great idea for USA borders as well!) and extensive security net around Gaza and the West Bank all ready does partition the tiny nation. Unless Israel is willing to perform "ethnic cleansing" on a massive scale, this partition will be around for the foreseeable future whether as an internationally recognized border or not. Until the hand of G-d reaches down from heaven, a distinct possibility in the Holy Land, this may be the best that mere mortals, such as ourselves, can hope to achieve.

Therefore, Condi is not pushing anybody, as you say. She is just trying to formalize the facts on the ground in a way that minimizes the chance of future warfare and nuclear destruction. And you can be certain that the Israelis are good negotiators and not very easy to push, even for Condi.

I like what Fred has to say, and I have even gone to see him speak after his announcement as a candidate. His positions are much closer to mine than any of the other Republican candidates and he is not a Johnny come lately to the conservative movement.

However, as an oncology nurse, I think he has a definite look that says: "I am ill." It may just be his age showing, but whether age or illness it is made worse when he stands next to his vibrant and obviously much YOUNGER AND HEALTHIER wife. This may turn off many divorced women who have gotten divorced after their husbands left them for a younger woman. And believe me, that's a situation that millions of American women face. They should campaign separately if Mr. Thompson doesn't want the gender gap to grow.

I'll still vote for Fred, but I doubt that he can finish all four years of his Presidency.

Let me be clear. Speculation about Fred's health by people who are seen to be supporting Rice is not helpful to Rice. Fred has addressed this frankly on his website and at RedState. It is best left to Fred and his people to deal with, and let the chips fall where they may.

*** Editor's note: True, it may not be "helpful," but it is already in play. Just look at the links in the post: Politico.com, "Is Death on the Ballot?" or National Review "The Tsongas Problem." This post has been sat upon for some time. We didn't want to appear to be vultures, waiting to feed upon Thompson should his health decline. But let's face it wIth McCain's age, Rudy's past prostate cancer history, Reagan's Alzheimer's diagnosis (albeit after leaving office), FDR's decline in his final days, etc. this is going to be an issue. Our mentioning it here is hardly "news." The "take home message" of the post (if anyone's paying attention) is that Fred, as wonderful an addition to the Republican field as he is, has to get in front of the issue and not give even the appearance of the slightest degree of obfuscation. He must grant unfettered access to his medical records and state clearly how he would deal with a decline in his health while in office. This was Paul Tsongas' legacy, and one that Fred would do well to heed.

However, Thompson's gender gap seems to be an underreported issue, and one that we imagine will figure into his political calculation of a VP choice should he win the nomination. This is much more interesting that the "old news" of his lymphoma.
